Ashtanga and the yoga tradition immersion (60h) (Antwerpen)
BeschrijvingIn this 5 day immersion we will journey into Ashtanga yoga and explore its deep roots in the yoga traditions of India.
At the heart of the Yoga tradition, techniques such as asana,
breathing practices and meditation are used for heightening awareness and letting go of false notions of the constructed self. This idea has a spectacular history and rich tradition in the
spiritual practices emanating from India. In this immersion we will weave our way through some of the most important texts and teachings that comprise the colorful tapestry of the Yoga
tradition, and find how the teachings from the classical (raja), physically oriented (hatha) and devotionally oriented (bhakti) schools share a common thread.
In addition to the attendance in the course (30 hours), there will be an additional 30 hours of off campus participation required
by way of the study of materials provided in the form of a PDF syllabus, which will be sent to students in the month preceding the course. This study time is meant to encourage independent thought and not as a test of understanding.
